Some of our guests, a family of four from Germany enjoyed watching the gulls progress during their stay in the summer of 2015. One of the juvenile gulls soon flew from the garden and joined the other youngsters on the beach. The smaller of the two was much more reluctant to leave the safety of the Pebbles garden and one of the girls from Germany who became quite fond of the young gull named him 'Steve'. There was a big cheer from the guests one morning when Steve finally plucked up the courage and flew down to the beach.
Steve continues to visit Pebbles and even made an appearance for the 2016 RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch!
June 2016 Update:
During Spring Humfrey and Rosemary rebuilt their nest on the small flat roof adjacent to the Lighthouse room and on 3rd June we caught our first glimpse of 2 new chicks. They're both very small and difficult to photograph! We can hear them calling for food and the two adults are taking turns to feed and look after the youngsters. We are hoping they'll both do well and fledge successfully.
